Tudor Vladimirescu, by Theodor Aman

Kings, queens, country leaders, politicians, athletes, scholars, as well as other important personalities from Romania are brought together in an anniversary exhibition. Portraiture has always been a witness to history. Over the years, celebrities and prominent figures have been immortalised for posterity.

The portraits in this exhibition are part of the collection of the National History Museum of Romania, but also from the collections of other partner museums in the country, many of them being publicly displayed for the first time. The personalities represented include Nicolae Bălcescu (an emblematic painting made by Gheorghe Tattarescu), Tudor Vladimirescu, Grigore D. Ghica, Gheorghe Hagi, Nadia Comăneci and many more.
