History is a labyrinth where the 20th century gave rise to at least three minotaurs: the First World War, the Second World War, and the Cold War. Enescu’s biography moves beneath the tides of history following a path as improbable as it is miraculous: from Liveni, a small village in northern Moldova, to Paris, where his opera premiered at the Palais Garnier.
George Enescu’s influence on national culture is crucial, and his international recognition – indisputable, with both Romania and France claiming him as their own.
This exhibition tells the story of a genius.
