OPEN CALL RULES
Art Safari x Vichy – #UnspokenWords

SECTION I. INTRODUCTION
Art. 1. Art Safari, in collaboration with Vichy, is launching an open call for the selection of women artists to participate in the group visual art exhibition #UnspokenWords, which brings into focus physical, emotional, and social transformations. Through art, the exhibition aims to open an honest dialogue about the body, femininity, taboos, wisdom, and rebirth.
The women artists are invited to respond, through their creations, to one of the four proposed sub-themes:
A. The Silent Body – how the body transforms without speaking: textures, inner landscapes, gestures, biology;
B. What Is Unseen – a reflection on what society chooses to ignore: absence, erasure, invisibility, marginality;
C. Rituals of Visibility – actions, self-care, expressions that reclaim the self: intimacy, resilience, stylization, resistance;
D. Other Voices – works that speak for or alongside other women (mothers, grandmothers, daughters, strangers): intergenerational visibility, collective memory, oral history.

SECTION II. ELIGIBILITY
Art. 2. The open call is addressed to visual women artists working in fields such as painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video, mixed media, etc.
Art. 3. Both Romanian and international citizens may apply, regardless of their place of residence.
Art. 4. Works created using traditional techniques (painting, sculpture, drawing) are accepted, as well as interdisciplinary works, video, sound, performance, and text.
Art. 5. To ensure the impartiality and fairness of the open call, employees of Art Safari, Vichy, or other companies involved in organizing the competition, as well as their first-degree relatives and in-laws, are not eligible to participate.
Art. 6. Submitted works must respect the principles of human dignity and integrity. Materials containing offensive, indecent, discriminatory, or unlawful content will not be accepted.

SECTION III. APPLICATION
Art. 7. Applications may be submitted until September 30, 2025, by filling in the official form (Art Safari x Vichy Form) and submitting it via the webpage https://www.artsafari.ro/project/open-call/.
Art. 8. Registration is free and there is no participation fee.
Art. 9. By entering the competition, participants expressly declare and agree that, in the event their work is selected as the winner of the main prize, they consent to the full and exclusive transfer of ownership rights over the artwork to Vichy, in accordance with the provisions of Art. 18 of these official rules.

SECTION IV. SELECTION
Art. 10. The selection will be made by a jury composed of representatives from Art Safari and Vichy, between September 30 and October 2, 2025.
Art. 11. Selection criteria:
• Relevance to the chosen theme and sub-theme;
• Artistic quality and originality;
• Coherence of the proposed concept.
Art. 12. Results will be announced on October 2, 2025, via email, as well as on the official channels of Art Safari and Vichy, and others.
Art. 13. The jury’s decision is final and cannot be contested.

SECTION V. PRIZES AND BENEFITS
Art. 14. Prizes and benefits worth a total of €5,500, as follows:
– Main prize: €1,500 awarded to the author(s) of the winning artwork, and €1,500 representing the value of the winning artwork;
– Five special mentions: €500 each, awarded to five other selected works that will be included in the exhibition.
Art. 15. All amounts mentioned in Art. 14 are gross amounts, from which taxes and contributions will be withheld in accordance with the applicable legislation.
Art. 16. The selected works will be exhibited as part of the #UnspokenWords exhibition at Art Safari, and promoted across all Art Safari and Vichy official channels.

SECTION VI. RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Art. 17. Participants assume responsibility for the ideas, images, and texts they present, in accordance with the copyright and intellectual property laws.
Art. 18. At the end of the exhibition, the artworks will be returned to the artists, with the exception of the one that receives the main prize, for which Art. 14 above applies, transferring ownership to Vichy. The transfer of ownership will take place on the date the author(s) of the winning artwork receive the €3,000, in accordance with Art. 14 above.
Art. 19. By participating, the women artists grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license, unlimited in time and territory, to use images of the artworks (photo, video, promotional materials) exclusively for the purpose of promoting the project and related activities.
Art. 20. The organizers commit to crediting the names of the women artists in all public materials where their works appear, as well as during the exhibition, which will take place at Art Safari between October 16 and December 14, 2025.
Art. 21. These official rules may be amended, and the participants are responsible for periodically consulting them in order to stay informed about the latest communicated version and to exercise the rights provided herein.
