The exhibition presents a wide variety of works: archaeological pieces from antiquity (small statuary, stars
votive and funeral, decorative-functional sculpture), found on the territory of today's Romania; sculpture from
the beginnings of Romanian modernity (end of the 19th century) and from the first half of the 20th century; mortuary masks and
hand moldings of public figures from the same periods. Without intending to be a research
complete over the last two centuries, when the sculpture environment has gained some coherence in our country,
The selection of the authors presented includes major names of the Romanian sculpture. The works are not arranged
chronologically, but in groups that dialogue through visual formulas that are based on the recurrence of themes and motifs.
REPVBLICA is also a poetic journey through the Romanian sculpture, valued as a shadow
symbolic instrument, but also concrete.
